Wireless Focus Mixed Bag

Fund: SeaPoint Ventures

Posted by r2d2 on 2007-09-27

PUBLIC:

Tom and Susan started the fund. Melissa joined them later. Tom is the visionary "gut feel" guy. Susan is the one who pays attention to the details. Their focus is wireless and my understanding is that they are not planning to raise another fund beyond Seapoint II. They were easy to deal with before and after funding and are very supportive of the management team in the limited ways they can be.

Great Folks: Too Bad They're Fully Invested

Fund: SeaPoint Ventures

Posted by Anonymous on 2007-05-26

PUBLIC:

Seapoint's a terrific little local fund. They're fully invested, but they get involved with a startup from time to time anyway. They have great relations with many other firms and can rout investment in your direction, even if it doesn't come from their pockets.

If you have a chance to pitch, go for it - they're super smart and helpful, regardless of whether or not they put in money.

Tom Follows a Script

Fund: SeaPoint Ventures

PUBLIC:

Before I pitched Seapoint I was warned that Tom would tell us that we had a great concept but that it was missing one item...one secret ingredient and that he would tell us what it was in exchange for being appointed chairman. Turned out to be spot on.
