Strong Bod Members, Investors, and Trusted Advisors

Fund: Ridgewood Capital Management

Posted by $Tala on 2012-06-11

PUBLIC:

Ridgewood Capital invested in our Series B round in 2007. The process was handled very professionally and in a timely manner by the Ridgewood team. Elton Sherwin from the Palo Alto office and Jeff Strasberg from NJ headquarters remained activite contributors to the board and as advisors to the executive team from the time of the investment until the successful sale of the company in December 2012. They were able to not only provide finance & operations tactical oversight and advice but also played a key role in our "big picture" strategic direction. They unquestionably had a positive influence on our executive team and the overall positioning of the company over this period. I would gladly work with this team again if the opportunity ever arises

Great Firm to Work With

Fund: Ridgewood Capital Management

Posted by Frequent Traveler on 2012-03-19

PUBLIC:

Ridgewood invested in my company’s Series B round of funding in 2007 and remained an investor and board member until our M&A exit in 2011. Our experience with them really could not have been better. We worked primarily with Elton Sherwin during the funding process; Elton then served as Ridgewood’s representative on our board of directors. Elton added great value on the board member. His comments and overall approach were very helpful and when the company would hit a bump in the road (failure to hit a revenue, profitability, or development target, for example), his approach was a collaborative and constructive one, not a less constructive “who should get fired" one. He also played a very useful role working to resolve differences that arose on occasion among other board members. We also worked from time to time with Jeff Strasberg, Ridgewood’s CFO, particularly when Ridgewood invested in our company and again as we were in the exit process. Jeff was very helpful on financial and deal structuring issue – his willingness to dig into the details and think through alternative options made Ridgewood more helpful on those sorts of issues than any other investor with whom I’ve worked.

Good Team, Stuck by Us

Fund: Ridgewood Capital Management

Posted by Anonymous on 2008-03-07

PUBLIC:

Ridgewood funded the A round of a prior company in 1999. Ridgewood stuck with us during downturn and was instrumental in encouraging new money to come into subsequent rounds. Ridgewood supported our sales efforts to some very large customers who needed assurances from our venture backers. During M&A, Ridgewood was excellent in helping us to model different deal terms and maximize value.

Agree with previous posts that decisions are made in NY.

Strange Behavior: East West Strain

Fund: Ridgewood Capital Management

PUBLIC:

This firm has two locations (NY and SF). When aligned all is fine, but both halves can get out of sync and severe strain can occur. Need to be aware of this and deal with it
