Our company was funded by MVM about a year ago. Initially they had both an operational and fundraising role. They brought me in to run the operations and I've been very impressed with their ongoing support. Matt Ridenour is on my board and is an active supporter. His insight into the business is particularly helpful as he once had an operational role.
MVM has been exceptionally helpful with our follow-on financing role. They have stepped us to support us financially and with their time way beyond any of our other investors. They have made countless introductions and phone calls on our behalf. They have been creative in deal structuring and very flexible in accommodating others' needs. They have even put up high risk capital to get us through a tough stretch. Their lead has been the key to our follow-on financing and surviving this tough fundraising climate.
In addition to their support, Matt has been a great person to partner with. He has an upbeat, can-do attitude and doesn't get bogged down by the smaller issues.PRIVATE: Members Only

i don't have firsthand knowledge as they aren't the right fit for what i'm doing, but their model is limited investment + bring in operators where needed to help get companies to a certain level. (this is not a model that works for my startup) they charge a decent amount for that, but not sure if that is in cash or stock - assuming it would be stock or else it doesnt make sense. . . anyhow i did pitch an associate Ryan who was a nice guy but he made it sound like they were willing to entertain deals outside of this investing + operating platform. had a chat with Stu MacFarlane before going into a deeper pitch and he cleared that up on the phone-they might be doing straight investments with future funds but not this one. i do know that they are actively looking for a few more deals now and still have $ in current fund. while i don't have deep experience with these guys i have heard good things from a number of other contacts, and stu seemed like a straight shooter when we spoke, saved me the time of an unnecessary followup pitch. my gut is - these guys could be a great early stage fit if you are like an engineer with a great idea but little operating experience, and they do seem well connected.PRIVATE: Members Only

Our company got MVM involved a little over a year ago. We were impressed with Andy and specifically his experience from Overture which helped guide us in the right direction. They take an active role in helping to run a company and will invest about the same terms as a standard Angel investment. I'd say they are valuable in 3 major ways. First assisting with operations and staying focused on the business goals. Second, their contacts are amazing knowing pretty much every VC and strategic partner we would want to work with in the internet space. Third, they are fun to work with.
They have increased our value about 4X over the past year and we are now about to get our funding with several options.
They are truly hands-on and create more value from the operating piece as they bring from the investment.PRIVATE: Members Only

I sent them my summary and they were quick to respond and told that they would get back soon. They did get back but the answer was too early to fund my startup. Its a honest answer. They have asked me to get back to them once it goes to next level.PRIVATE: Members Only
