I have pitched to Tom several times over the past few months. We have discussed my business plan in a lot of depth so I have begun to get a good insight into how Tom operates.

Tom is a good guy, with lots and lots of ideas, what some might call "an outside the box" thinker. Like all such thinkers, he has a difficult time sifting through his ideas and figuring out which ones are good and which ones are not so good. But he means well and works hard. He name drops a LOT and I think that if you are going to work with Tom, you have to see past that. Tom knows a lot of people but he sure can't stop telling you about how smart and exceptional his contacts all are.

Tom is big on process. He has a "best practices" view on everything you do. This can help the inexperienced CEO who has a great idea, but can drive the more experienced one crazy.

You know we sacrifice a lot to do what we do as entrepreneurs. When we submit our exec summs or BP's we hope to get a response. Sometimes they are favorable and sometimes not. We get them from partners, LP's, or the occasional associate, BUT I never expected an HR person to respond. Makes me feel like either these guys are unprofessional or it didn't even get to a decision maker. One thing we entrepreneurs need is clarity and parity

Dealt with Tom on a deal that didn't close. I personally like both, Louis and Tom. The difficulty dealing with Tom was that he thought he was God's gift to VC investment in Canada. This made it very difficult to work with. Hopefully this has changed.
