Dry Powder

I spoke with David Cremin recently. They have dry powder and they are making investments. Up to $2 million. I think they are probably going to be really careful right now, but I would add them to your list of funds to pitch if you fit in the sweet spot.
I have done business with them in the past and would do business with them in the future. You really need to make sure you are the right stage, etc.

Frontier is a really small fund founded after the last bubble with nice people, but no resolve. They will pull a signed term sheet due to "the economic climate," which makes you wonder if they have the commitment from their limited partners to continue operations.
They probably have next to no money left and are looking for a grand slam home run. Sounds like bad news to me.

A one month turnaround from initial contact to post-consideration pass.
Gave brief but useful feedback upon request.

They are generalists and will consider just about anything as long as the market is large and the entrepreneur has a reasonable plan for succeeding within that market. Their portfolio is eclectic, which means they are willing to roll up their sleeves and learn about your market and business. At the same time, they can't do that with everyone they meet, so go to them if you are pursuing something really big, have a well-defined product or service, can define a path to significant revenue and profitability, but are not a "me, too" business.
They have deep relationships and during due diligence may offer to connect you with outside experts to help you think or work your way through particular challenges or problems with your product or plan.

Met with Scott, who is very bright and experienced and one of their advisors. They were attentive, asked questions, and seemed genuinely interested. Then dark.
It's interesting that VC's in general make it difficult to return to them with updates. We had a major shift in strategy that they would have appreciated, but 4 calls, 5 emails later, and I get the message.

Small firm, but both Dave and Scott are class acts. They really care about their companies and will roll up their sleeves to help people. Focus on very early stage deals.
