Sig is Still Critical but Do Not forget Melanie

Fund: Imlay Investments

Posted by Anon on 2008-05-21

PUBLIC:

Good post about Sig and his influence around town but don't forget that Melanie is there and can help you avoid getting "Sig'ed". If you are unsure about approaching Sig, try to reach Melanie first and get a friendly feedback session before approaching the top dog. Sig is a nice guy but he's not a technology guy, he's an operations / business guy and ex-CFO so as long as you keep your expectations around that you'll be happy. Also, Imlay is great at introducing entrepreneur's to VCs, especially Boston / east coast firms so their real value is getting you beyond angel funding and into a top tier VC. Melanie is sharp and seen every deal that Sig has so don't overlook her input and value add when talking to Imlay.

Sig and team are very nice people and generally like to help their portfolio companies out. Generally a patient investor but small.
