Highway12 is an investor in my startup, although a minor one. That minority holding has given them observer rights as opposed to a full board seat, and I would have expected less help from an observer, but that's just not been the case. They've been extraordinarily helpful to us, and I'd want them involved in anything else I do, even if it didn't need VC funding. I'd take some investment just to have them at the table.
I think the most valuable quality of HW12 is that they believe the team is more important that the tech, the market, the product, whatever. In a VC environment where "parts is parts" is standard operating procedure, they stand out by valuing people.
The bottom line is that I've come to trust them, Mark Solon in particular.
