The Right Step for Visiopharm
Fund: Northcap Partners

Visiopharm recently closed its first round of funding with Northcap Partners as only investor. For the first almost six years of its existence, Visiopharm was successfully grown organically, with the determination not to pursue venture capital. In 2004 we came into contact with people from Northcap Partners (then IVS), through serendipity and initially without any intent to collaborate. It turned out to be both a useful and very pleasant acquaintance, where we especially interacted with Thomas Weilby Knudsen and Sten Larsen. Even before we decided to pursue formal collaboration, we were delighted that Mr. Knudsen accepted our invitation to take a seat on the board of Visiopharm. In this capacity he has helped forming long term strategies and both Mr. Knudsen and Mr. Larsen have always been very helpful and valuable as sounding boards for practical operational issues. It soon became a natural step for us to invite Northcap Partners to become formally involved in growing Visiopharm. Even as informed skeptics of the Venture model, we have become convinced that working with Northcap Partners was the right step for Visiopharm.
